Volunteers manage this community building. Activities that take place include; Bingo, Yoga, Get Together group, Dancing and a Balance, Posture and Fall Prevention class. To find out more about these and other activities, visit their website – darfieldcommunitycentre.org.uk.
The Darby and Joan Club takes place on Tuesdays, 3:30pm until 5:30pm. This is an Over 60’s group for men and women and includes activities such as dominoes, cards, bingo and music. There’s a small charge of £1.20.
Carol Robson is the group organiser and says she volunteers her time because she enjoys doing it. “I enjoy seeing people with a happy smile on their face when they leave.”

“I like to come out of the house away from the four walls. I don’t have much company and it’s a pleasure to meet all my friends.” Betty lives alone and regularly attends the Darby and Joan Club.

At the heart of these groups are the volunteers who commit hours of their time to make sure that things run as smoothly as possible. From opening up buildings to the cutting back of shrubs – the list of tasks involved is so vast that we really do need you to get involved!
